Biography
Currently, I am a PhD student
at
Electrical-Electronics Engineering Department of
Boğaziçi University.
My interest of becoming a researcher is actually based on ELECO conferences
(Int. Conf. on Electrical and Electronics Engineering)
when I was an undergraduate student at the
Electronics Engineering Department of
Uludağ
University. In ELECO conferences, I had the chance of participating
different signal processing sessions; especially there was a presentation on
“watermarking” which was very inspiring in developing my further studies. In BSc., I worked on image forensics,
namely "Blind Source Cell-phone
Identification" and intend to develop a classification algorithm to determine
the model and brand of the camera with which an image was acquired. In 2005,
after I graduated with Honors' degree from Uludağ University, I submitted my first conference paper on the
relevant topic to an international conference, ADCOM'05.
This success encouraged me to
follow an academic career at Boğaziçi
University. I began to work as an active researcher
under the supervision of Prof. Bülent Sankur at
BUSIM - Boğaziçi University
Signal and Image Processing Laboratory. I take a part in a TUBITAK/COST (European
Cooperation in the field of Scientific and Technical Research) Project entitled
"Performance and Security Improvement with Multi-Biometrics", where I am
responsible for face landmarking; determination of relevant facial landmarks
such as eye corners, eyebrow corners, nose tip and lip corners, in challenging
face scenarios subject to illumination, extreme facial expressions and
occlusions. Parallel with my research activities, I am also a teaching assistant
at the same department.
